§ 24-244. Sale, advertisement or placement of merchandise.

  • (a)

    No person shall permit any merchandise, boxes or any other obstructions to remain in or on any of the city sidewalks for any length of time whatsoever or use any portion of the sidewalk for the sale and advertising of any merchandise of any character whatsoever; provided, however, this shall not apply during special events and celebrations in which a substantial number of businesses participate. This subsection does not apply to merchants receiving goods for the purpose of immediately unpacking the goods and placing such goods in buildings, and this subsection does not apply to the placing of objects on the sidewalks that are for the purpose of beautifying the downtown area, which placement of objects has been approved by the city commission.

    (b)

    No person shall use any portion of the street for the sale or advertising of any merchandise of any kind or character whatsoever, except as provided by this Code or any other city ordinance.
